1930 American Handmade Hook Rug Mounted “Lassie”. Before Lassie became a book, Lassie was a dog in the story “Half Brothers” in 1859. Lassie became published as a short story in 1938 in the Saturday Evening Post. 1940 is when Lassie was published. This is a hooked rug mounted, assuming this dog was the character in the story Half Brothers, or someone’s personal dog they named Lassie and hooked their own dog. Measures 24″x37″.
